THE
BEGINNING
|
The
idea for the development of this Web site and web journal was
based on the need and desire of interested persons (medical professionals,
researchers, students, individuals) to have valuable update
clinical research and practice information online right at their
desktop. GBCNC site and GBC web journal were founded
in 2002 by Dr. Dimitrios H. Roukos, at Ioannina University School
of Medicine.
|
MISSION
|
As
a non-profit International Organization against Cancer, GBCNC’s
mission is to provide free, open access to information and translational
research to all interested individuals.
Non-profit
International Organization against Cancer
Two
are the major actions of non-profit Organization GBCNC founded
in 2003 in Ioannina, Greece.
|
|
The
site is dedicated to provide cutting edge research news, information
and educational resource. GBCNC is focused primarily on gastric
cancer and breast cancer. In 2004 will start to provide more
general information on carcinogenesis, prevention, early detection,
multidisciplinary, surgical oncology, new targeted molecular
therapies and possible clinical implications of Genomics and
Proteomics.
2.
Gastric & Breast Cancer web journal
GBC
is a specific, peer-reviewed oncology journal. Provides secondary-research
articles on current best practice and future clinical and research
directions on carcinogenesis-based prevention and early detection,
and multidisciplinary, evidence-based management and treatment
of breast cancer and gastric cancer.

Clinical
judgment in controversial topics |
Providing
an update, comprehensive, critical, in-depth, analysis of all
evidence available facilitates medical professionals and patients
to decision-making on several topics. omega replica
For example, for clinicians to make decisions on chemoprevention,
extent of surgery (limited vs. extended), use of adjuvant treatment
before or after surgery etc…
|
Integrating
exciting research into clinical practice – Perspective articles
|
There
is currently a gap between research achievements and their incorporation
into clinical use. GBC journal provides PERSPECTIVE articles
evaluating critically the potential risks and benefits in patient’s
outcomes by the integration of cutting edge research into clinical
practice.
CONTENT
Gastric
Breast Cancer covers a wide spectrum of stomach cancer and breast
cancer from carcinogenic pathway-based chemoprevention and early
detection to traditional multidisciplinary treatment and new
targeted molecular therapies.
|
SECONDARY
RESEARCH |
GBC
provides the following types of secondary-research articles:
-
Perspectives
-
Editorials
-
Commentaries
-
News & Views
-

2004(in
progress) |
New
design with easy-friendly access, fully revised site version
including the following topics:
-
Carcinogenesis
- Prevention
(familial, sporadic cancer)
- Early
detection
- TREATMENT
(early-stage (minimal inasive), advanced stage)
- Multidisciplinary
treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy), neoadjuvant
therapy
- Recurrence
- New
therapies (molecular targeted therapies, clinical trials)
- Surgical
Oncology (research and practice)
- Genomics
|
GOAL |
To
evaluate and promote worldwide–through open, free access
to GBCNC site and GBC web journal of all medical professionals
and individuals- possible changes in the current management of
gastric cancer and breast cancer that may result in reducing incidence
and improving both survival and quality of Life.
A
potential reduction in incidence can be achieved with design
of effective prevention and chemoprevention strategies in the
general population and an improvement in survival of patients
with gastric cancer and breast cancer with appropriate multimodality
treatment.
WHY
TO REGISTER
You
need few seconds for registration and have an open, free access
to all full-text articles. From time to time you will receive
per email early-release articles and table of contents of each
new GBC issue.
