Cancer biology and genetics advances have provided highlights in an improvement in understanding why some patients with melanoma recur to current treatment modality. One possible explanation is the presence of mutations in the BRAF gene. However, molecular mechanisms underlying recurrence are much more complex and sophisticated research is needed to understand the full story of treatment failure and patient's death [1, 2].
