PERSPECTIVE

Single cell transcriptomic and cell-to-cell validity-guided therapy.

William CS CHO, MD, PhD.

Abstract
Early evidence from single-cell RNA-seq studies not only reveals genomic and transcriptomic heterogeneity among individual cell but also highlights acquired translational implications.
This perspective article discusses future clinical implementations of cell-to-cell variability-dependence drug sensitivity to optimize individualization of therapy. Moreover, it describes the major challenge to sequencing hundreds of millions cancer cells, their diversity with benign cells in tumor microenvironment and the unclear unknown mechanisms of cell-to-cell co-operation within whole tumor ecosystem.
