Exploring dynamic emergence of colorectal cancer heterogeneity: New predictive and therapeutic horizons.

Prof. Dr. Ε. Hanisch, MD, PhD.

Abstract
Late diagnosis of colorectal cancer (CRC) in advanced or metastatic disease has poor prognosis. Targeted drugs have been approved only for resectable disease with modest efficacy. Recent research of next generation sequencing (NGS) of with dynamic emergence of genetic, genomic and transcriptional variability opening new avenues in personalized therapeutic response prediction and new drug targets development.
This article reviews most valid genetic and genomic data with bulk and single-cell NGS of the primary tumor and it compares with matched circulating cell-free DNA heterogeneity as well as with metastatic or relapsed tumor DNA variability.
